The 6th Step is a simple, direct, and naturalistic take on the disappointment one feels in failing to connect with other people.

Synopsis:
A man is alone in his bed, trying to fall asleep. When he hears through his open window that there are some people talking loudly outside, he races down to see what all the hubbub is about. He is disappointed to find that there is less hubbub than he had thought, and returns, still alone, to his dim apartment.

“Film is not analysis, it is the agitation of mind; cinema comes from the country fair and the circus, not from art and academicism.”
--Werner Herzog
